Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan donate Rs 1 crore to Kerala CM Relief Fund for Wayanad landslide victims

Telugu superstars Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun are the latest film personalities to donate to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF) for rehabilitation efforts in Kerala’s landslide-hit Wayanad district. The death toll in the devastating landslide that hit the district on July 30 morning has risen to 219, according to the state government.

In a post on Instagram, Chiranjeevi expressed grief over the loss of lives and property due to the landslides in Kerala on Sunday, and said that he and his son – “RRR” star Ram Charan – are donating Rs 1 crore to the CMDRF.

“I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused in Kerala by nature’s fury in the last few days and the loss of hundreds of precious lives. My condolences are with the victims of the Wayanad tragedy.

The Padma Bhushan awardee actor wrote, “Charan and I together are contributing Rs 1 Crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as a token of our support to the victims. I pray for the speedy recovery of all those affected!”

Earlier in the day, Allu Arjun had said that he wants to contribute his bit to the state, which has always showered him with a lot of love.

“I am deeply saddened by the recent landslides in Wayanad. Kerala has always given me a lot of love, and I would like to contribute by donating Rs 25 lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund to support the rehabilitation work. Praying for your safety and strength. @CMOKerala,” the “Pushpa: The Rise” star wrote on X.

On Saturday, Malayalam cinema veteran actor Mohanlal, who is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, arrived in Wayanad in his Army uniform and pledged Rs 3 crore for rehabilitation work in the disaster-hit area.

“The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home destroyed and life disrupted is a personal tragedy,” he wrote along with a series of photos taken from the ground on X.

The actor, who reached the Army camp at Meppadi, had a brief discussion with the officials and left for the landslide-affected area along with others.

Earlier, Tamil actors Kamal Haasan, Surya, Jyothika, Karthi, Vikram, Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan, and other Malayalam stars Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya and Tovino Thomas also donated to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF).

Haasan donated Rs 25 lakh, Jyothika, Surya and Karthi together donated Rs 50 lakh. Mammootty contributed Rs 20 lakh, Dulquer Rs 15 lakh and Tovino contributed Rs 25 lakh. Fahadh and Nazriya contributed Rs 25 lakh.

Noted filmmaker Anand Patwardhan has donated Rs 2.2 lakh, which he received as prize money at the recently concluded 16th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).
