When asked if there was “room in the door” for her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, who played Jack Dawson, Kate anticipated the question.

“I thought, ‘He’s going to answer the Titanic question and then he’s going to ask me about the door.’ I knew it for sure,” the actor who plays Rose commented, before revealing that the floating piece wasn’t even a door. According to the magazine, “It’s a piece of bannister, like a staircase or something, that was broken off.”

The scene has sparked countless debates since the film’s release in 1997, with fans speculating whether there was enough room for both Jack and Rose on the wreckage.

Director James Cameron even commissioned a study to explore this question, using stunt doubles to re-enact various scenarios. James emphasized Jack’s mentality of prioritizing Rose’s safety, saying, “Jack may have survived, but there are a lot of changes.”

During a Q&A for her latest film, Lee, Kate humorously admitted that Leonardo is frequently asked about his Titanic moment. He also gave information about the filming conditions and said that the water was not as deep as it appeared on screen.

“So at first, I would regularly say, ‘Can I go pee?'” According to the magazine, she joked about how she had to get out of the tank during the take. Sharing behind-the-scenes details, Kate described filming the scene in an infinity tank, where the sound of rushing water created a unique atmosphere.

“Everyone is completely captivated in the last 22 minutes of the film because you can hear the noise of the water the whole time,” he said.
