Beloved actor best known for playing Chandler Bing on TV sitcom FriendWas found dead at his home in Los Angeles in 2023. In a new issue of People, Matthew’s stepfather Keith Morrison revealed that the actor’s “dying wish” was that people would remember him for “helping other people,” more than just his fame for “Friends.” It has now become our mission in life to continue that desire.”

Matthews was found dead at his Los Angeles home last year at the age of 54. Toxicology reports indicate that his death was caused by drowning and coronary artery disease as well as acute ketamine effects. Following his demise, the DEA and LAPD began investigating the drugs involved resulting in several arrests including those of Matthews’ assistant and a known drug supplier.
