Director Todd Phillips, whose latest release is Joker: Folie à Deux, says theater chains should skip commercials before screening movies to improve the cinematic experience for moviegoers. Todd was speaking to Empire magazine as part of a survey of filmmakers on what the future of showbiz will look like. The Oscar winner said, “Stop showing commercials before movies. We’ve paid for our tickets. We’re excited to be there. Commercials take the air out of the room.”
In the survey, she was ranked among 14 filmmakers, including George Miller (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Sean Baker, director of this year’s Palme d’Or-winning film Anora, Sofia Coppola (Priscilla), and Daniel Scheinert (Everything’s Everywhere at Once). Was one of. ,
