HYBE hints at BTS’ reunion in 2026

During HYBE’s Q3 earnings call on Tuesday, November 5, CFO Lee Kyung Joon said, “We are currently discussing with members about activities in 2026. While a full group comeback will generate considerable revenue, We are hopeful that this will not account for our revenue share being as high as ever, as our other artists and new ventures are also contributing to the growth.”

When BTS temporarily disbanded in 2022 due to its eldest member Jin’s impending mandatory military conscription into the South Korean military, HYBE claimed that Boy- The band would reunite. So far, only Jin and J-Hope have successfully completed their military service. While all members will actually be finishing their military service next year, HYBE has indicated that they will only reunite at full strength in 2026.

BTS’s military recruitment and hiatus

The seven members of the world’s most popular boy band are on self-described “hiatus” through 2022 due to their military service, which South Korea is required to do for all men under 30 due to tensions with the nuclear-armed North. .

J-Hope finished eighteen months of South Korean military service in October, and praised the “sacrifices” of soldiers working to keep the country safe. Before J-Hope, Jin ended his service in June. The remaining members of the band will complete their service in June 2025.

Another obstacle to BTS’s reunion is that its member SUGA was investigated over a drunken e-scooter incident in Seoul earlier this year, which caused HYBE’s share price to fall to a record low. However, some BTS members have continued to release solo projects, with Jin preparing to release his debut solo album in November.
