The 31-year-old singer, best known for his role in the globally successful boy band, died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Local prosecutors concluded that Payne’s injuries were not the result of self-harm or any outside interference from others.

According to the official autopsy report obtained by Deadline, he died due to multiple injuries sustained in the fall.

While the cause of death has been confirmed as a fall, an additional layer of complexity has emerged.

A toxicology report obtained by Deadline revealed that Payne had multiple substances in his system at the time of his death.

Reportedly, prior to the incident, hotel staff had called the police to report an “aggressive” individual who was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Charges have been filed against three people in the investigation of Payne’s death, although no suspects have been arrested.

According to Deadline, the charges include “abandonment of a person after death” and “facilitating the supply and use of narcotics.”

The three men facing charges are said to be close to the singer and involved in the events leading up to his death.

One of the suspects reportedly had a close working relationship with Payne, while the other was an employee of the hotel where the incident occurred.

According to Deadline, a third suspect is accused of providing the substances found in Payne’s system.

A judge has imposed sanctions on the suspects, including a ban on leaving Argentina. However, no arrests have been made yet. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information regarding the events leading to Payne’s tragic death.

Born on August 29, 1993 in Wolverhampton, England, Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction.

The band first found success in 2010 on the British talent show The X Factor, where Payne was grouped with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

Together, One Direction became one of the best-selling musical acts in history, with five studio albums and seven Brit Awards to their name.

After the band went on hiatus in 2016, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019.
