Procession and ballads: The growing trend of custom wedding songs

Nothing says ‘forever’ like a song composed just for you! Wedding season is here and the latest trend is for couples to have their own wedding anthem for grand bridal entrance, mehendi, haldi, sangeet and social media videos. These customized songs offer a glimpse of the heartfelt moments and milestones of the couple’s love story.

“We create songs based on your choice of lyrics and genre that fit your personal story. It’s not just a song for a wedding, but a part of a couple’s love story when they look back 10 years from now,” says Kavya Daga, founder of Mumbai-based music service Love in a Song.

Lavish Jain, founder of Wedbeats, a Gurgaon-based music service, says, “Some couples prefer a grand, festive feel, which a studio-recorded song can perfectly capture, creating the feeling of a big Indian wedding. Is. Others choose a more intimate and personal approach. Depending on the duration and edition, the price of these songs generally ranges between 1 lakh more 2 lakhs.”

Godwin Emmanuel, founder of Heart 2 Hertz, a Chennai-based music service, says typical costs range between Basic goes up to Rs 10,000 for customized tunes Rs 30,000 for an anthem with a Bollywood vibe.

The process begins with collecting anecdotes from the couple and then weaving them into songs. “Once we have all the details, our team of lyricists, composers and singers create the song from scratch. We ensure that the songs reflect the couple’s unique story, with the verses and rhythms flowing naturally. We avoid overusing clichéd songs,” says Archit Rajbhar, founder of Gujarat-based music service Bajango.

Talking about her wedding song, Ruchika Ratwani, a dancer from Nagpur, says, “I wanted an upbeat and romantic song for my pre-wedding video and they came up with a good combination.”

“I’m getting married soon and I had a customized song made as a surprise for my fiancé,” says Kavina Shah, a Sydney-based architect and lighting designer.

Faridabad fashion designer Sakshi Agarwal is also planning a customized wedding anthem. “My boyfriend and I have an interesting love story. It took us a while to convince our parents and I wanted the song to reflect all those feelings. This will be my way of expressing my gratitude to my parents and my love.”

When choosing their wedding song, most couples want a slow, romantic tune. “Some couples want to mix Bollywood-inspired classic songs with folk songs and upbeat songs. “The demand has increased massively this year,” says Emmanuel.
