Chennai: Actress Nayanthara on Saturday shocked everyone with her open letter dedicated to Dhanush, criticizing him for not letting her use the film footage of ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ for their Netflix wedding documentary.
In the letter, she also accused Dhanush of harboring a personal grudge against her and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. He mentioned that demanding Rs 10 crore from him for using a three-second snippet of the song Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was a ‘low’ move.
Part of the letter reads, “An established actor like you, with the support and blessings of your father and your brother, a famous director, needs to read and understand this. As we all know cinema is a fight for survival. Is.” People like me: a self-made woman with no connections in the industry and someone who had to struggle to get to the position I am in today, I will credit my work ethic for that, which is the same as all of them. There is no secret for those who know me, but more importantly, for the goodwill of the audience and my film fraternity.”
“The release of my Netflix documentary was much awaited not only by me but also by many of my fans and well-wishers. It took a whole team of colleagues and film friends to bring the project together despite all the difficulties we faced. You, my partner and The backlash I’m expressing towards the film affects not only us, but also the people who have given their effort and time to this project. In this Netflix documentary, My Life, It also includes about my love and marriage, “Clips from many of my industry well-wishers who have generously contributed and memories from many films, but sadly the most special and important one, Nanum Rowdy Paddy is not included.
Nayanthara further questioned Dhanush’s retaliation and mentioned that she would give a befitting reply to his legal notice.
“I have received your legal notice and we will respond to it appropriately through legal means. Your refusal to grant NOC for the use of elements of Naanam Rowdy Dhaan for our Netflix documentary may be justified in the courts from the copyright angle But I want to remind you that there is a moral side to this, which will have to be defended in the court of God,” she wrote.
Describing Dhanush as a ‘despicable’ person, he wrote, ‘It’s been almost 10 years since the film released and that’s a long time for someone to wear a mask in front of the world and be so despicable.’ Haven’t forgotten all the awesome things you said about that film, which was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that everyone still loves today. Your words before the release have already left some irreparable wounds for us. I came to know through the film industry that your ego was deeply hurt after the film became a blockbuster. Your displeasure over the success of this film (Filmfare 2016) through the award ceremonies associated with it was evident even to the common man.”
Nayanthara ended her letter with an appeal for reconciliation. He requested Dhanush to “spread the love”.
“Through this letter, I only wish and pray that you find peace in your inner self on the success of those few people whom you knew from the past. The world is a big place. It is for everyone. It It’s okay for people you know to come forward in life, it’s okay for normal people with no background in cinema to build relationships and be happy, that’s just an example of the blessings and people of their work. Mercy.”
“You may concoct some fake story and pack it with punch lines and even pitch it at your next audio launch, but God is watching. I recommend incorporating a German word, “Schadenfreude,” into your vocabulary. Want to make sure you don’t have that feeling anymore, or with anyone. And really, in this world where it’s easy to look down on people, there’s joy in other people’s happiness. There’s joy in seeing other people’s happiness and the hope that comes from other people’s stories. I suggest you watch it too and maybe it will change your mind. It is important to spread and I hope and pray that someday you will be fully capable of doing it and not just saying it. Om Namah Shivay,” the letter read.
