Kanguva: This actor's cameo has surprised Suriya fans

CanguwaThe much-awaited Tamil fantasy epic starring Suriya is finally here. After a lot of pre-release drama and some legal hiccups over screen-sharing in Tamil Nadu, director Siva’s multi-starrer film ‘Anbana’ hit the theaters to a grand welcome from Suriya’s fans.

Be it the concept of reincarnation hinted at in the trailer, the gorgeous time sequences of the fantasy world, or the performances of stars like Suriya and Bobby Deol, there is a lot of buzz on the internet. However, a special cameo of a leading Tamil star has taken the internet by storm.

After weeks of speculation, Canguwa Suriya’s brother and actor, Karthi, features in a cameo. in the movie Miyajhagan The actor plays dual roles – as the antagonist who vows to eliminate Suriya’s two characters that we see in the film. Showcasing a raw and rustic look as the illegitimate son of Udhiran (Deol), Karthi’s gruesome yet boisterous character vows to continue the fight in the upcoming sequel.

Of course, Karthi’s cameo as a villain in the epilogue immediately reminds of Suriya’s most famous turn as Rolex in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2022 film, VikramInterestingly, the Lokesh Cinematic Universe film, which served as a sequel to Karthi’s kathyIt also features a voice-cameo by Karthi as his character Delhi. Of course, this won’t be the first time the two stars will share the big screen. Notably, Suriya’s 2004 film Aytha Ezhuthu Karthi, who was working as Mani Ratnam’s assistant, was featured in an undisclosed role. The brothers also shared the screen during their cameo appearance in the song ‘Aaga Naga’ in 2011 ToAnd later, in Karthi’s 2018 film Kadaikutty SingamIn which Surya himself was seen.

Starting this morning, fans of Suriya and Karthi fed X (then Twitter) with their reactions to Karthi’s cameo. A movie buff on X wrote, “The crocodile fight sequence and the #Karthi introduction are the highlights of the second half.”

Other users, who seemed to be critical of the film in general, saw Karthi’s cameo as a saving grace. “It’s #Karthi vs #Suriya in #Kanguwa2. Not sure how many of us will do this after the unbearable experience of #Kanguwa. (sic),” one user wrote.

Canguva Disha Patani is in the lead role. The film also stars Natarajan Subramaniam, Karunas, Radin Kingsley, Yogi Babu and BS Avinash in supporting roles. With music composed by Devi Sri Prasad, the film’s cinematography is by Vetri Palanisamy.
