New Delhi:
Aamir Khan, who has been giving priority to his relations with family at this stage of life, revealed that he and daughter Ira are jointly undergoing therapy sessions to fix their inter-personal problems. In a video shared by Netflix India, Aamir can be seen discussing mental health with Dr. Vivek Murthy along with his daughter Ira. He says in the video, “Therapy is very helpful. I think she (Ira) pushed me on that path. I would strongly recommend therapy to anyone who felt the need for it. It was helpful for me.” In fact, Ira and I have even started seeing a therapist to improve our relationship and work through the issues that have persisted over the years.”
Claiming the power of therapy to heal the mind, Aamir Khan also said, “Therapy is a very powerful thing. I am quite an intelligent person. I can think about things. I am a sensible guy. If there’s a problem, I can think of it.” But no, I can’t. It doesn’t matter how intelligent you are. We know very little about our mind I have a lot of knowledge and the basics of it really help you a lot to understand it. In India, many of us feel that if I go for treatment, I have a mental problem. I don’t want people to know I’m going to therapy but it’s okay I need help.”
Last year, the father-daughter duo also joined the conversation about mental health. Ira shared a video to spread awareness and break the taboos associated with the topic. His father Aamir Khan was also present with him. In the video released on Instagram, Aamir said, “There are many things in life which we cannot do ourselves, we need the help of someone else who knows that work. And we would have taken such decisions very easily. ” It is without any shame, without any problem. [There are a lot of things in our life which we cannot do. To fulfil such tasks, we seek help from others, who know the job pretty well. And, we take such decisions very easily, without any guilt or embarrassment.],
Ira Khan launched the Augustu Foundation in 2021 which works towards “making mental wellness more accessible”. Aamir shares Ira with his first wife Reena Dutta.
