Sabarmati Report: Union Home Minister Amit Shah meets Ekta Kapoor and Vikrant Massey

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met the star cast of the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which is based on the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002.

At least 59 Hindu devotees returning from Ayodhya were burnt to death in the incident, which later led to riots in the state.

In the visuals, Union Home Minister Amit Shah can be seen interacting with Ekta R Kapoor, Vikrant Massey and others.

Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently attended the screening of the film at the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) going on in Goa.

After watching the film on Thursday, Sawant sent his best wishes to Ekta R Kapoor and the entire team of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ through a phone call courtesy of producer Mahavir Jain.

Speaking to Ekta Kapoor yesterday, the CM said, “I really liked the film…it is very good. You have presented the film in a proper manner. Many congratulations.”

The Goa Chief Minister further said that he is considering giving tax-free status to the film in the state.

“After watching this film, I am considering releasing it tax-free in Goa; we will implement this decision in a few days. Very few filmmakers focus on real facts and this film is based on a true incident. I congratulate the producer and the actors for their commendable work,” he told ANI.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the screening of the film with the cast in Lucknow.

After the screening, he praised the film and its lead actor Vikrant Massey while speaking to the media.

“Vikrant Massey and his team have made a commendable effort. I express my heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Uttar Pradesh. The people of the country have the right to know the truth about the efforts being made to create disharmony in the society. We will make this film.” To further promote it, it should be made tax-free in the state,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The film also stars Raashi Khanna and Riddhi Dogra in lead roles.

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan, Sabarmati Report is based on the real-life events surrounding the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra.
