New Delhi:
Indian bassist Mohini Dey and her husband, composer Mark Hartsch, made headlines with the news of their separation on November 19. This news came hours after AR Rahman said that he and his wife Saira Banu have announced their divorce after almost three decades of marriage. FYI: Mohini Dey performed with AR Rahman’s band. He has performed with AR Rahman in over 40 shows worldwide and released his self-titled debut album in August 2023.
After this news broke on social media, speculations started that both the announcements were related. Now, Mohini has shared a cryptic post on her Instagram Stories addressing the issue of their link-up rumors without taking anyone’s name. Mohini Dey wrote, “I have been receiving a huge number of requests for interviews and I know exactly what it’s about, so I have to respectfully decline each one as I have no interest in fueling absolute BS. Not there. I believe my energy is not worth spending on rumors. Please respect my privacy.”
Mohini Dey’s note comes a day after AR Rahman’s son AR Amin broke his silence on the rumors and strongly denied any link between his father and Mohini. “My father is a legend, not only for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect and love he has earned over the years. It is disappointing to see false and baseless rumors spread. Let us all remember the importance of truth. Be respectful when speaking about someone’s life and legacy. Please refrain from engaging in or spreading such misinformation. Let’s respect and preserve their dignity and the incredible impact they have had on us all,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. Wrote on.
Mohini Dey and Mark Hartsch announced their separation through a joint Instagram post. In their statement, the former couple thanked everyone for the support they have received and asked for some privacy from their followers. “The biggest thing we want to wish is love for everyone in the world. We appreciate all the support you’ve given us. Please respect the decision we’ve made by being positive towards us at this time.” And while respecting our privacy, we will not appreciate any decision,” read the note.
Meanwhile, AR Rahman wrote a long note on X (formerly Twitter) addressing his divorce from Saira Banu. He wrote, “We had hoped to reach the Grand Thirty, but it seems that all things have an unseen end. Even the throne of God can tremble under the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this scattering we find meaning, even if the pieces can never find their place again. Our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we go through this delicate chapter.
