Exclusive: IFFI 2024: When Sanya Malhotra realized her mother's job isn't "easy"

Sanya Malhotra’s Mrs Premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Directed by Aarti Kadav, the film is the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam blockbuster – Great Indian Kitchen. The story revolves around a married woman who finds her identity while living her life in the kitchen. The film also stars Nishant Dahiya and Kanwaljeet Singh. Now in a special conversation with NDTV, Sanya shared her experience of working in the film. She also talked about the time when she realized that what her mother (a housewife) does is not easy. The actress said, “I came to Mumbai about 10 years ago. And when you start living alone, you realize the value of home-cooked food. You start respecting your mother more. You start respecting your mother more. She begins to realize that what she does as a housewife is not easy.” We used to ignore even small things from our mother, we used to hear our father saying to our mother, ‘You were at home the whole day.’ But I realized 10 years ago that what my mother does is not an easy job, you realize it only when you have to do it all alone.

When asked if her father lends a helping hand, Sanya Malhotra said, “Yes, sometimes. But he makes sure everyone knows what he did.” It becomes.”

Talking about the storyline, Aarti Kadav told Indian Express,Mrs This is not the story of one woman but it is the lived experience of many women. I also realized that our mothers have lived and understood life a lot and there are many nuances that they have understood and I was keen to capture them. It was the first time I was paying attention to my life, our aunt’s life, my friends, life. The lives of men, of so many people and trying to see how I can bring unique and meaningful moments to the film and still not once try to be ‘generally’ preachy. I wanted the film to be this girl’s story and I wanted to be authentic to her personality.”
