Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein confirms The Wizard of Oz Foundation
To their pleasant surprise, writer and Roy Kent star Brett Goldstein came clean about the hit series being a retelling of The Wizard of Oz.
“Oh yes, there’s a lot of The Wizard of Oz in Ted Lasso,” Goldstein told Entertainment Weekly. Giving fans further satisfaction, Goldstein also clarified some of the elements that were borrowed from the classic and how the show’s characters were essentially modern representations of the book’s symbols.
“The pinball machine is the one that always says Ted has to go home. Theres No Place Like Home.’ And then again, there’s no place like Richmond FC Yes, that’s it Wizard of Oz.”
Listing some of the main characters, including himself, he began, “I’m the Tin Man.” Sudeikis is Ted’s Dorothy, Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca the Lion, and Phil Dunster’s Jamie Tartt the Scarecrow.”

Where is the Ted Lasso pipeline going?
Some serious discussions have surfaced online over the past few months regarding the continuity of the Apple TV show following Ted’s return to Kansas in Season 4. Although Sudeikis previously admitted that the Ted Lasso universe was over from the perspective of his character leading the action, fans are hopeful that there will be more to come. As a result, this led to some virtual exchange of ideas around possible spinoffs exploring other characters as main leads.
In August 2024, Variety reported that ted lasso season 4The journey was closer to greenery. There has been no official statement since then.
