The upcoming historical action film ‘Chhawa’, directed by Laxman YouTekar, acts as Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yasubai, and Akshay Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. While the trailer has provoked the conversation, most of the conspiracy around the film revolves around the intensive on-screen rivalry between Vicky and Akshay.
The first meeting of Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna was the day of the shoot
Despite playing the two most important characters in the film, Vicky and Akshay never interacted before filming their much-awaited face-off scene. The actors first maintained an air of authenticity and stress on their shooting day, their characters.
“When we were shooting for that scene, we exchanged some good morning, goodbye or notes. He was Aurangzeb and I was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and we went directly to the shooting of the scene. There was no communication as Akshay Khanna as Vicky, ”Vicky said during an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
“Looking at the scenes, you could not sit on chairs next to each other, drinking tea and then going to shoot when ready. So, this did not happen systematically. I hope I will get to chat with the film after the release of the film, but during the shoot, we never interacted with each other, ”Vicky said.
Laxman said, “Both of them were so immersed in their characters, they did not even want to see each other’s faces.”
The decision to avoid personal conversation before the scene was added to the intensity of his performance, making his face one of the most awaited moments in the film.
Vicky explained in detail the historical significance of the struggle of his characters, “Saying that Aurangzeb took nine years and caught Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and caught. Therefore, a lot of films show their discovery to find him. There are a few moments together (between Vicky and Akshay), but the film is concluded about them (meet each other) and he will leave you waiting for that face-off. Chhatrapati is mixed beautifully with the roar of Sambhaji Maharaj.
Laxman YouTekar praised Akshaye Khanna
Director Laxman YouTekar praised Akshay’s performance as Aurangzeb. “The way he has played Aurangzeb will leave you frightened. He talks very little, but tells a lot with his eyes, ”Laxman said.
Given that Akshay is known to be selective about his projects, Laxman was asked how he persuaded the actor to play a role. He shared that it only visits Akshay’s house in Alibag. “He is very nice person. Although he only does some projects, whatever he does, he does it wholeheartedly, ”the director commented.
