Samay Raina's Gujarat show gets canceled after the IGL controversy

Mumbai: Comedian Samay Raina is facing heat after a dispute around his show Got Latant in India. Reports show that their scheduled comedy demonstrations in Gujarat have been closed after public resentment. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has claimed responsibility for cancellation, citing backlash on aggressive comments made in a recent episode of the show.

According to VHP spokesperson Hitandrasingh Rajput, Raina had planned four stand-up shows in Gujarat-Surat on 17 April, Vadodara on 18 April and Ahmedabad on 19 April. However, on Wednesday, tickets for these incidents were no longer available on Bookmyshow. Rajput said, “It seems that the organizers have removed the show from the stage due to public pressure.”

After a clip in India, there was a dispute that the specialty of Ranveer Allabia, who affected social media, went viral. In the video, Alladia made raw comments about parents and sex, causing widespread criticism and legal complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati. While Allahabadia has faced significant backlash, it seems that Raina is also experiencing the results as the producer of the show.

VHP Regional Secretary Ashwin Patel welcomed the cancellations, urged the event organizers to be cautious about hosting comedians that “hurt public sentiments.” He said, “The people of Gujarat have made it clear that such persons are not welcome here.”

So far, Raina has not commented on the cancellation of the report, and it is not clear whether the shows were voluntarily drawn or if external pressure played the role. However, the incident throws light on the increasing dispute around India and it affected the people associated with it.

Meanwhile, Samay addressed the controversy with a statement, but the Internet questioned why he did not apologize.
