Mumbai: Amid widespread controversy over podcaster Ranveer Allabia’s remarks on ‘India’s Got Latant’, TV personality Rakhi Sawant has been called by Maharashtra Cyber Police.
The actress-grandson is asked to appear on 24 February to record her statement. In October last year, Sawant Samay appeared in Raina’s show “India’s Got Latant”, where he made a warm argument with co-judge Mahip Singh, which grew on throwing a chair on the stage. The incident took place in Delhi and after sharing the online footage to a viewer member, it quickly went viral. Reports suggested that Rakhi repeatedly interrupted Mahep Singh with unfair jokes, increasing tension between them throughout the show. This ended in a warm exchange, causing a sudden end of the episode.
Meanwhile, on 24 February, the popular YouTubers Ashish Chanchala and Allabia appeared to make their statements in front of the cyber cell. Yesterday, stand-up comedian Shashwat Maheshwari was called to record his statement.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has already recorded statements from three persons associated with the ongoing investigation including Raghu Ram and Devesh Dixit. As the investigation proceeds, more individuals appearing in the episode are being called for questioning.
Following the controversy by Ranveer Allabia’s unfair comments on the show, Comedian Samay Raina removed all the episodes of “India’s Got Latant” from YouTube. In response, the Supreme Court directed Allahabadia to present his passport to the investigating officer at the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has stopped Allahabadia and their colleagues from broadcasting any show on YouTube or other platforms until the next notice.
For those unfamiliar people, Allahbadia “India’s Got Latant” appeared with fellow material with creators, including Ashish Chanchalani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Mukhuha. During an episode, a female contestant faced an important backlash after asking an inappropriate and aggressive question, which quickly ignited resentment among the audience.
In the light of the incident, a formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission.
Allahbadia, known for its beerbiseps brand, released a public apology, admitting that his comment was “not appropriate” and “not even funny.” In a video statement, he said, “My comment was not appropriate; It was not even funny; Comedy is not my fort, I am here just to say sorry. Many of you asked if I use my platform; Obviously, it’s not how I want to use it. ,
He said, “Whatever happened, I am not going to give any reference, no justification or argument behind it. I am just offering an apology. I personally had an omission in my decision; It was not good from me. Podcast is seen by people of all ages, and I do not want to be a person who takes responsibility; Family is the last thing that I will humiliate anytime. I need to use this platform better; It is learning me from this whole experience. I promise to be better; I have asked the manufacturers to remove the insensitive section from the video. I am sorry; I hope you can forgive me as a human being. ,
