The 2016 romantic drama ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mavra Hocaine, made a stunning comeback in theaters earlier this month, which gave immense love from the audience. Re -release inspired directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru to announce a sequel. However, soon after this, producer Deepak Mutat expressed concern that he was not consulted and owns the intellectual property (IP) rights for the film.

Amid confusion, director Vinay Sapru has now assured that everything has been resolved among the manufacturers and confirmed that the much awaited sequel is officially on track for 2026 release.

Sequel plans were from the beginning

Talking to Hindustan Times, Vinay Sapru said that the idea was conceived for Sanam Teri Kasam 2 with the original film. He clarified, “Sanam Teri Kasam begins with a flashback. We wrote only Part Two of the film at that time. We wanted to move forward with another part, but unfortunately, whatever reason, we could not. Nobody said all this, while so far. This confusion is due to interview. I want to keep it on record for all once and all: there will be another story of love and promises coming to Valentine in 2026, but we have not announced a film. How can I be so selfish to declare? I love my team – my producer, my actor. Deepak is a dear friend; I had dinner with her on Monday night. ,

Producer Deepak Mukut to lead the project

Addressing concerns about rights, Vinay Sapru confirmed that Deepak Mukut would continue to be the creator of the upcoming sequel. “We are a team. This journey is for all of us,” he said, ending speculation about disputes within the camp.

Earlier, Deepak Mukut had responded to the reports of the sequel claiming his ownership of the film’s IP rights. “Sanam Teri Kasam’s IP is with me because I am its creator. So, a sequel or even the right to make a prequel or remake rests with me. I announced a sequel with Harshvardhan Rain in September 2024. For directors (Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru), I have not discussed with them. They did not meet me and talked to me about it. I have not finalized any director. ,

Box office success again released

Sanam Teri Kasam’s renewed interest was clear at the box office, where again the release has collected more than Rs 37 crore in just 12 days. The continuous popularity of the film among fans has created a strong base for the success of the sequel in 2026.
