Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra could be a global star today, but her journey was part of the challenges, including her teenage age that inspired her father to take extreme security measures. In a recent interview with Lehran Retro, Priyanka’s mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra opened about how his house in Bareilly turned into a fort after a boy broke, leading to a big innings in Priyanka’s lifestyle.

Before getting up in fame, Priyanka spent a part of her teenage in Bareilly after returning from the United States. After dressing, talking and carrying herself in an American way, she stood out in her hometown, attracting a lot of attention – a lot of it was unwanted.

Madhu remembered how she had enrolled Priyanka in a convent school and ensured that she was always picked up and removed from the car, because her father, Dr. Ashok Chopra was strict about his safety. However, it did not stop local boys, who started chasing him.

“We put him in a convent school. We will take him in the car and leave it because his father was strict that he could not go anywhere. Madhu said that the boys started following our car, so it started becoming insecure.

The situation took a serious turn when an unknown boy jumped on the boundary wall and entered their house. This dangerous event was a wake-up call for Chopras, taking Priyanka’s father taking drastic steps to protect her daughter.

“One day, a boy jumped our fence and entered our house. it was scary. The next day, his father covered the entire house with iron bars. From border to roof… even monkeys could not enter. The house is still the same, “Madhu revealed.

Fearing Priyanka’s safety, Madhu and her husband considered transferring to a big city, where she would be less than a target.

“I told my husband that Priyanka is not in Bareilly. Perhaps we should go to Delhi. He said, “We will put him in an army school so that he can move forward with us.”

But there was another significant change even before proceeding.

After implementing security measures, Priyanka’s father had a personal conversation with her – one that remains a mystery to date. Whatever was said, it made unexpected changes in Priyanka’s wardrobe options.

“The next day, she came back from school and said she wanted to shop. I took him, and he selected such dull and pressed clothes … all salwar-kurta. He shared colors like off-white, brown, beige to look dull, ”Madhu shared.

Her mother never came to know what her father had told Priyanka, but after that, she stopped wearing western clothes in Bareilly.
