Bengaluru: The bail application of actress Ranya Rao, arrested in connection with a gold smuggling case, is set to be heard on Thursday in the 24th ACMM court in Bengaluru. After returning from Dubai on March 3, 2025, Kimpe Gowda is known for its roles in Kannada films like ‘Manikya’ and ‘Patki’ earlier this week at the Revenue Intelligence International Airport (KIA) at the Kemp Gowda International Airport (KIA).

Ranya’s arrest made a tip-off after a tip-off about involvement in gold smuggling in India. DRI officials deployed a team at the airport to ban the arrival, and was taken into custody immediately after landing.

Officials allege that Ranya was carrying 14.8 kg of gold, which he intended to smuggle in the country.

For the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, Director General of Police (DGP), Ranya’s stepfather Ramchandra Rao expressed his shock and crisis by hearing about the arrest of his step daughter.

In a conversation with ANI, Rao said, “When I came to my notice through the media, I was shocked and destroyed. I was not aware of any of these things. Like any other father, I was also surprised. She was not living with us; she is living separately with her husband, and some family issues should have some problems due to some family issues.”

He said, “The law will do its work. There is no black mark on my career.” He assured the public that he had no prior knowledge of his step -daughter’s alleged illegal activities.

Ranya’s arrest has shook the important public and political discussion. As Ponnanna, Congress MLA and Karnataka Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor, emphasized that the law would take his course regardless of Ranya’s connection.

“He has been accused of smuggling, and the law will take his course-he is the daughter of the DGP, Chief Minister or Prime Minister. If any official nexus is included, the investigation will reveal,” Ponnanna told the media.

On March 4, Ranya was produced before a special court for financial offenses and was sent to judicial custody by 18 March 2025.

Before transferring to custody, he took a medical examination at Boring Hospital in Bangalore.

During interrogation, Ranya allegedly claimed that his visit to Dubai was for commercial purposes, although officials alleged that his journey was associated with illegal gold imports.
