Aamir Khan was the first choice for Lage Raho Munna Bhai

Aamir Khan revealed that Rajkumar Hirani initially approached him with a script, which was the first Munnabhai film. At that time, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’-2003 made a hit that Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of gangster-doctor was solved-it was not even imagined. However, script Hirani had to undergo significant changes to Aamir and eventually developed into Legee Rao Munna Bhai, the sequel to 2006 that introduced the concept of Gandhigiri to the audience.

Aamir shared, “Originally, Raju wrote a script where he wanted me to play the lead role. The day he came to tell me the script, he told me that the script had changed and he was now called Munna Bhai 2 (later Legee Rao Munna Bhai), and he had nothing to tell me. ,

Curious, Aamir asked Hirani about the original story, in which the director explained, “The original concept was about a young freedom fighter in India before independence. He is fighting during the era of Gandhia, and during a stick charge, he is hit on the head and falls into a coma. He wakes up after 40–45 years, only to find out that India has gained independence, but it is still stuck in the past. This is why he continues to believe with Gandhi. He does not know that Gandhi has been assassinated – this was Raju’s basic idea. ,

Both collaborated on the prestigious 2009 film ‘3 Idiots’, which is one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever, as well as satirical science-fi drama ‘PK’ in 2014.

On the work front, Aamir has done ‘Sitare Zamin Paar’ in the pipeline and is also producing ‘Lahore 1947’ with Rajkumar Santoshi.
