Anant Mahadevan, the producer of ‘Phule’, has requested the Brahmin community to watch the film before making an opinion. In a special conversation with IANS, Anant Mahadevan opened about his film, it is about the content and changes suggested by the sensor board.
Director Anant Mahadevan’s biography drama “Phule” is based on the life of social reformers Jyotoro Govindra Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. Before its release, the film is facing opposition from some sections of the Brahmin community. After watching the trailer of the film, some members of the Brahmin community claimed that they were painted in “bad lights”.
Anant Mahadevan, the creator of “Phule”, has now requested the Brahmin community to first watch the film and then give his opinion. He said that he has followed all the amendments suggested by the censor board.
Sharing his views on the changes suggested by the censor board, Mahadevan told IANS, “They were probably alert, and they had some recommendations, some Twicing that they wanted to do- we wanted to do- it was not really such a cut.”
He said that even with these changes, the film does not lose its impact. “We followed it because we want to go by law, but only one thing is that we have become a little more sensitive, even if those words have been retained, even if those points have been retained, I don’t think anyone would have objected to this, but somewhere we had to soften it, but I assured me that it will not reduce the film’s effect.”
The producers were asked to remove words like ‘Mangal’, ‘Mahar’ and ‘Peshwai’ from the film. Additionally, the scene of a ‘man carrying a man broom’ was asked to replace the boys throwing cow dung balls in Savitribai ‘, and the line’ 3000 Sala Old Slavery ‘was converted into’ Kai Sala Old ‘, among other things. Inviting everyone to catch “Phule” on 25 April, the manufacturer said that he received a clean U certificate from the censor board.
He said that CBFC itself has supported the film and said that the film should be watched by the younger generation as Jyotiro and Savitribai Phule started a revolution in their teenage age which is still going on. In this project, Pratik Gandhi will be seen as Jyotiro Phule and Patilekha will be seen as Savitribai Phule.
