The Ladakh region, known as Moonland due to its barren, rugged mountains and hard topography, has been hosted by many Bollywood superhit films such as ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Haqiqat’.

‘Reality’ was designed to portray the 1962 Indo-China war and became a big hit. Many Bollywood films have been shot in the rugged places of this region. Popular films using Ladakh’s stunning scenarios for various scenes include ‘Jab Takaha Hay Jaan’, ‘Dil Se’, ‘Bhaag Mirchha Bhaag’, and ‘Lakshya’.

The region has places like Nubara, Chanthang and Batalik, which were not open to tourists earlier and are now opened for visitors.
