Irish post-rock band God Is An Astronaut will play their first show in the city this week as part of a three-show India tour organized by Bohemian Entertainment. Known for sweeping, yet carefully constructed instrumental rock that highlights ambiance, guitar noise, explosive drum work and more, God Is An Astronaut features tracks like ‘Echoes’, ‘Forever Lost’ and ‘All Is Violent, All’ There is a possibility of presenting songs like ‘. Is bright’.

The band will invite special guests to join Indian act Aswekeepsearching in Bengaluru. Currently working on a new album, the concert promises to showcase post-rock in all its epic grandeur and tenderness in equal measure.

God Is An Astronaut, for their part, are coming to India on their Reverse World Tour, just as they have completed their new album. “Expect to hear new music in June, with the album coming out in early September,” the band said on Instagram. We’ll be revealing the title, artwork, tracklist, etc. over the next few weeks, but we can confirm that this is our longest release to date.

Singer-composer Suraj Santhosh, one of the well-known names in Malayalam music who often performs with his band, and his band have another outing in Bengaluru this week. Santosh and his band will also be joined by rock act 12th Men, who have supported fusion act Agam in the past. The show is ticketed through Paytm Insider.

However Santosh has steadily gained popularity for his work in South Indian film music – songs like ‘Theerame’ MalikFrom ‘Aaradhike’ Ambili And from ‘Love Me Again’ Nannaku Prematho -They also released their multilingual debut EP, gypsy sun In 2022. He was previously a part of the multilingual fusion band Masala Coffee until 2019.

Metal event organizers Cryptic Hertz last held a show in June 2022 and now they are back to curate heavy music from India as part of their latest concert, Forged by Fire.

The lineup includes city-based heavy metal band Illusia, New Delhi’s melodic rock band Steelrush, Bengaluru’s emerging sludge/punk and doom band Gotsmoke and rock band Giddy Who. The event description states that Illusia will “enter its second decade with a bang that promises to continuously unleash traditional heavy metal fury.”

Steelrush has been described as “one of the country’s earliest and most prominent melodic rock acts, making an exciting comeback to Bangalore after half a decade.”

Goa-based electronic music producer Anyasa aka Anish Sood has been performing to packed clubs across the country and has taken it abroad as well. Anyasa stops in Bengaluru this week for a set at Sunburn Union, before heading off to the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia for shows in the coming weeks.

The show comes after Anyasa released her latest song ‘Closer’ with singer Luke Coulson. A press release stated, “This single with English vocals from British singer Luke Coulson marks a new beginning for Anyassa and promises to deliver Anyassa’s signature style featuring complex sonic landscapes and deep emotional resonance “

The artist has been building his audience around the world following several EPs and singles like ‘Closer’ through the renowned label Anjunadeep, founded by electronic act Above & Beyond.

Also part of the Anjunadeep roster such as Anyasa, London duo My Friend, consisting of James and Archie, are making their India debut this week as part of a sundowner set at Koramangala Social. Presented by Pumproom as part of their gig series A Night of Slate, the bill will also feature more local DJs.

The duo’s description states, “Blurring the lines between house, techno and progressive, their sound is a blend of euphoric melodies and driving depth, with their debut release ‘Solace’ already garnering over eight million hits and the upcoming With a solid release schedule.”
