Aamir Khan in ‘Sarfarosh’
Superstar Aamir Khan on Friday said he has been trying to make a sequel to his classic film “Sarfarosh” for a long time and the team is now very serious about developing its sequel.
This film directed by John Mathew Mathen, considered one of the best films of Aamir’s career, completed 25 years on Friday.
“I have been asking John (director) to make ‘Sarfarosh 2’ for many years. Also, the film ended in such a way that we can make the second part of this film. I have told John that if he writes a good So the story, so we can make ‘Sarfarosh 2’, this time he told me he is trying,” Khan said ahead of the screening of the film.
He said, “One thing I can say is that we will definitely give it a serious shot now, come up with the right script and the right kind of film for it (part two).”
The film, released on 30 April 1999, received widespread critical acclaim and was also a commercial hit. It also won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
The story revolves around an honest police officer Ajay Singh Rathore (Khan), who meets and befriends Gulfam Hassan (Naseeruddin Shah), a famous Pakistani ghazal singer. Rathore’s life takes a turn when he uncovers a huge conspiracy while investigating arms smuggling in Rajasthan.
Khan said he can’t believe that ‘Sarfarosh’ has completed 25 years and added that he is grateful for the love and appreciation the film has received.
“The film is still fresh in my mind and it feels like it was released two or four years ago. I have watched this film many times and it has been a long time since I watched it. I am sure we will enjoy this film. We will release it in theaters and the audience will come to watch it again because it is a very good film.”
“‘Sarfarosh’ is a very important film for our country and society. It has been one of the most favorite films of my career. It is a film that has been loved by the audience all over the world. It is a great tribute to all of them for me. It’s a chance to thank those who liked the film and showered their respect and love on it,” he said.
The 58-year-old actor said that the team did extensive research to understand the mindset of the policemen.
“When we made ‘Sarfarosh’, we did a lot of research on how police are and what their issues are. Whenever I meet any police personnel, from a constable to an IPS officer, they mention that they Loved ‘Sarfarosh’ and everything shown in it. I feel happy whenever I hear it.” “Sarfarosh” also featured Sonali Bendre, who was also present at the screening of the film.
Bendre said that ‘Sarfarosh’ is a relevant film even today.
The actor said, “We knew it was a different film but we never thought it would become a cult. A few days ago, I watched the entire film and I think even today it says the same thing, it’s very Relatable and very sweet.” Said.
Praising Khan, Bendre said that he is an “amazing” co-star and she was equally excited to work with Shah for the second time.
“When you work with him you grow. When you have a colleague like that you learn a lot. It was a pleasure to work with John (Matthew) who had done ad films earlier. ‘Sarfarosh ‘It was my second film,’ she said, adding, ‘I have already done ‘Takkar’ with him (Shah). Naseer saab and Aamir are legends, so whenever you share the screen with them, you learn.’
Talking about the film’s soundtrack, Khan and Bendre said that they liked all its songs, but late singer Jagjit Singh’s ghazal, ‘Hosh Walo Ko Khabar Kya’ is their favorite track.
