Mumbai: President Draupadi Murmu awarded Padma Vibhushan to eminent actor Chiranjeevi and famous actress Vyjayanthimala. The Padma Awards were given in New Delhi on May 9. It is the country’s second highest civilian honor. Renowned dancer Padma Subramaniam was also honored with the Padma Vibhushan. The winners were announced this year on the eve of Republic Day i.e. January 25.

Vajyanthimala has also been honored with the Padma Shri.
Vajyanthimala was looking very happy on this occasion. She was proud to be awarded the Padma Vibhushan at the age of 90. On receiving the Padma Vibhushan award, Vajjayanthi Mala said that in the year 1969 I received the Padma Shri and now I have received the Padma Vibhushan. I am very happy and grateful. This is a big deal for me.

Vayjayanthimala further said that it is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India who have recognized my art-dance along with films. I am happy and humbled to receive this award. Let us tell you that Vyjayanthimala started her acting career at the age of 16 with a Tamil film. He is remembered for films like Devdas, Madhumati, Nawan Daur and Sadhana.

Chiranjeevi was happy
Chiranjeevi expressed his happiness on receiving the Padma Vibhushan and also thanked the people of the country for their love and support. He wrote on X that my congratulations to the central government for giving the Padma Vibhushan award, to all the people who congratulated me on this occasion. Let us tell you that apart from Telugu, Chiranjeevi has worked in Tamil and Hindi films. He is the superstar of all India today.

Padma Subramaniam is a Bharatnatyam dancer. He is also a research scholar, choreographer, teacher, Indologist and writer. He is famous in India as well as abroad. Many films and documentaries have been made in his honor by countries such as Japan, Australia and Russia. He is known as a form of dance and the founder of Bharat Nritham.
