Admitting that she had no hesitation in choosing children over career, Jyoti revealed that Armaan and Amaal’s childhood has given her some of the most heart-touching memories.

“When Amaal was about four years old, he showed great interest in playing the piano because my father-in-law used to teach music, and also, there were music meetings at home. While kids her age played sports, Amal wanted to spend more time with the piano. So, we enrolled him in piano classes,” she recalls.

Talking about Armaan, he revealed that when he was a child, he used to sing songs to himself to sleep. “It reached a point that my father-in-law said, ‘Yeh toh abhi se sur mein gaata hai’. When asked if her sons were naughty while growing up, Jyoti laughed and said, “Amaal was naughty as a child, but Armaan was very naughty. Armaan would push Amaal’s glass of milk, spilling it and then pretend to cry as if Amaal had hit him and get Amaal in trouble. I remember this very funny incident when his father (Daboo Malik) was performing in a show in a casino in Nepal and Armaan went missing. We had to close the doors of the venue and look for him and don’t know what happened, we found Arman playing with colored balls under a roulette table. It was scary but it had a funny ending.”

And the big one was no less, as Jyoti further explains, “Amaal was so impressed with Hee Man’s character that he had collected a bag full of these toys and whenever he got upset with me, he would Used to take toys. And threaten us that he is leaving the house.”

Armaan Malik: Mother is an incredibly inspiring woman

His unwavering determination is a constant source of inspiration for me. His never-say-die attitude inspires me to strive for excellence in everything I do. If there is one quality in my mother that I want to emulate, it is her strength. I admire their ability to persevere even in the face of adversity, and I hope I can develop the same inner strength in myself. One quality I inherited from my mother is her perseverance. She is an incredibly driven woman.

Amaal Malik: There is no ‘we’ without mother

I feel like I’m the male version of him in every possible way. She has taught me to be rebellious in every possible way. This is the teenager she was when she tells us stories of her time growing up. She has been a risk taker, she has not given up time and again. The aspect of her perseverance in life, is something that my mother taught me. It was all there, you could fight luck and talent and many other obstacles. You may not have some special kind of talent, luck may not be on your side, but perseverance, self-belief, tireless efforts are some of the things I have learned because of my mother. Every lesson of his is present in the life of Armaan and I. I feel that we would not have been so close to the realities of life and would not have been able to understand how to endure the obstacles and things that come in life, this would never have happened if my mother was not there. She is the backbone of this family and the support for all three of us, Armaan, me and dad. There is no ‘we’ without mother.
