Jay Z opens up about cheating on Beyoncé
In a sad and remorseful tone he said, “The hardest thing is to see the pain on someone’s face that you have caused and then deal with it yourself.” He explains his coping strategies and how hard he fought to save his relationship with her, while empathizing with Beyoncé’s pain.
“You have to survive so you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You turn off all emotions,” said a sad Jay Z.
As the conversation progresses, he explains in detail the main reason for cheating. “So, even with women, you’ll shut down emotionally, so you won’t be able to connect. In my case, like, it’s deeper. And then all that stuff happens from there: infidelity.”

The Renegade singer also revealed that he and his wife might have separated forever because of the remorse and pain he felt after she cheated on him. However, after several rounds of therapy and constant effort to improve their marriage, the two overcame the fights and remain one of the most incredible power couples in the entertainment industry.
How did Jay-Z and Beyonce address this issue through their music?
“You know, most people leave, and, like, the divorce rate is 50% or something because most people can’t see themselves.” Jay-Z’s most recent album, 4:44, alludes to his infidelity: “Look, I apologize/For womanizing too often/Born to see my baby through a woman’s eyes.”
Beyoncé also sang about “Becky with the good hair” on her album Lemonade, a year before the release of 4:44. “He only wants me when I’m not there/He’d better call Becky with the good hair.”
The rapper and Beyoncé intended to collaborate on an album, but decided to release individual records instead. “We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then it led to the music she was making at the time.” So, her album was a continuation of that joint album. The opposite came to what we were working on.”
