George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga received an enthusiastic response after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. report According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fifth installment of the action franchise received a 7-minute standing ovation at the Grand Lumière Theatre. Cast members Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and director George Miller were present on the occasion. Furiosa received long praise
Furiosa was welcomed with great enthusiasm and love at Cannes, reports said, as both Chris and Anya greeted fans outside the theater and obliged them with selfies. For the occasion, Anya chose a stunning champagne-colored Dior ball gown with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Meanwhile, Chris opted to wear black trousers and a white jacket and a shirt without a tie (which is a violation of the dress code at Cannes). After the premiere, all three of them got up and were seen smiling and hugging each other. Elvis director Baz Luhrmann, who was in the audience, hugged George Miller.
About Furiosa
Furiosa replaces Anya, played by Charlize Theron, in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Chris plays a deranged warlord in the action spectacle. It is set a decade before its 2015 release.
According to the Cannes Film Festival website, the film’s official synopsis is as follows: “As the world collapses, young Furiosa is plucked from the Green Place of many mothers and falls into the hands of a legendary biker gang led by the warlord Dementus. . Traveling through the wasteland, they come upon a stronghold presided over by The Immortan Joe. While two dictators battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she gathers the means to find her way home.
Mad Max: Fury Road also received widespread praise in 2015 and won 6 Oscars, including Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.
Furiosa will release in Indian theaters on May 23.
