This festival is held in celebration of Lord Parashurama, who is worshiped as a representation of strength, courage and righteousness. It is said that he fought against evil spirits and lived his life according to religious teachings. Furthermore, Parashuram Dwadashi is an occasion to invoke the holy spirits of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi for good luck, success and happiness in life.

– Wake up early, make resolutions and meditate.
– Take a pledge to keep fast throughout the day.
– Spread a yellow cloth on the altar of your home temple and place a picture or idol of Lord Vishnu and Parashuram on it.
– Cleanse the image or idol with water from Ganga or any other holy water source.
While meditating on Lord Parshuram, offer 21 yellow flowers and yellow sweets along with basil leaves as Naivedya.
