Narasimha Jayanti is a Hindu festival celebrated every year on Chaturdashi Tithi or 14th day of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakha month, which falls between April and May according to the Gregorian calendar. By worshiping Lord Vishnu and Lord Narasimha with proper rituals on this day, all troubles go away. Narasimha Jayanti will be celebrated on 21 May 2024.

In Narasimha incarnation, Lord Vishnu incarnated as half lion and half human. According to Hindu religious texts, Lord Narasimha is considered to be the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu who came to earth to kill Hiranyakashipu. According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious time to worship Lord Narasimha is:

Evening puja timings: 4:24 pm to 7:09 pm

Chaturdashi date: 5:39 pm on May 21 to 6:47 pm on May 22

Narasimha Jayanti: Worship Method

– Devotees should wake up early, take bath and begin the puja rituals, which begins by placing the idol of Lord Narasimha on a wooden plank and bathing it with Panchamrit.

– Decorate the idol with jewellery, light a ghee lamp and chant the mantras of Lord Narasimha. Offer flowers, five fruits, dry fruits and home-made kheer or halwa.

– Devotees take vows during midday and worship Lord Narasimha before nightfall, as it is believed that Lord Narasimha appeared at dusk during Chaturdashi.

– It is advisable to do Ratri Jagran and Visarjan Puja the next morning, make sure to break the fast after the Puja and give donation to a Brahmin.

– Visiting temples and seeking blessings of Lord Vishnu is an important aspect of Narasimha Jayanti celebrations.

According to mythological beliefs, Lord Vishnu incarnated on earth in the form of Narasimha to kill the demon king Hiranyakashyap. It is believed that Prahlad attained Vaikunth Dham due to his extreme devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Anyone who worships the Narasimha avatar of Lord Vishnu gains mental and physical strength. Worshiping this form of Lord Vishnu on this day removes all the troubles of life and also destroys enemies.
