A few days before Oscar 2025, Aamir Khan opened up Missing ladies To be out of the race. Kiran Rao’s light-hearted comedy with a deep social message was chosen as India’s official Oscar entry for the best international feature film this year. Aamir Khan is one of the producers of the film. The film did not make it in the Oscar small list.

At an event organized by ABP Network, Aamir Khan addressed the issue about the disappearance of the film. The actor said that the panel has its own way of choosing films. He also shared that the Oscars are not being selected, not rejecting the merit of the film.

He said, “It was a beautiful film, and there was no shortage on the fronts. This time too, there were about 80-85 entries from different parts of the world, and everyone sends their best film, right? In fact, in this category, the Oscars have the most difficult competition.”

Kiran Rao Missing ladiesThere is a story of a set in a rural areas, two lost brides and a confused groom. The film delays issues of women’s liberation, patriarchy, women’s education in a light way.

“Honestly, we have to understand that there are other language movies that may really get better, or let me keep it in this way … films that make members like better. It does not mean that we were not good … and this means that members have a better choice than us. It is a very subjective decision,” Aamir Khan said.

He said, “Okay, now you tell me which is a better film between Mother India and Mughal-e-Azam? Which film had a better acting? How will you compare? That’s why I am saying that all this is subjective. It is not a race where start points and end points are the same. Filmmaking and creative medium, generally, are very difficult.”

Missing ladies A fresh cast – Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Chhaya Kadam were made in the headlines – with a powerful cameo by experienced Ravi Kishan.

The film was released in theaters on 1 March (2024) and was equally appreciated by critics and audiences, who receive maximum traction through word-mouth.
