Abhay Deol has announced his next project, and it is an international project. The Bollywood actor will be seen opposite Australian actress Natasha Bassett of Elvis fame. According to a report Report According to Deadline, the two are teaming up for the romantic comedy, Don’t You Be My Neighbor! Harry Grewal is directing the film. ‘The script reminds me of romantic comedies of the 80s and 90s’
Abhay will be seen for the first time alongside Natasha, who played Elvis Presley’s first girlfriend Dixie Locke in Baz Lurhmann’s Elvis (2022) starring Austin Butler, and Britney Spears in 2017’s Britney Ever After.
Sharing the news with fans, Abhay on Instagram “So excited to announce this project! This script takes me back to the era of romantic comedies of the late 80’s and early 90’s. So excited to be working with the lovely and talented @natashabassett and director Harry Grewal,” she wrote on Wednesday.
The actor, who has appeared in films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Happy Bhag Jayegi, Dev D and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, added the hashtags ‘grateful’, ‘rom-com’ and ‘new project’ in his caption. Abhay will soon be seen in Bun Tikki alongside Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman and Lin Laishram.

The film will depict the unexpected connection between Jai (Abhay Deol) and Emily (Natasha Bassett), who have very different outlooks on love and life. As they work through their contrasting beliefs and life experiences, they are challenged to confront their preconceptions and open their hearts to unexpected possibilities, the synopsis states. Deadline reports that principal photography is set to begin next month around Seattle, US.
Harry Grewal said, “We are excited to bring this light-hearted and thought-provoking story to life. Abhay Deol and Natasha Bassett bring their immense talent and dedication to the lead roles, making them a perfect fit for these characters.”
Producer Raman Palta said the film ‘will be loved by audiences as it explores the pain of losing love and the joy of finding it again’, adding, “This is a story that needs to be told, and we are thrilled to be working with such an extraordinary team.”
