Many taxpayers feel that they get nothing in return for their honesty in paying taxes to the government. The feeling was echoed by actor Vijay Sethupathi, who was attending the inauguration of the hub of taxpayers at the Madurai Convention Center in Tamukkam on Wednesday.

At his brief chief guest address, Mr. Sethupathi emphasized the importance of paying taxes. “We demand our rights for the government. Paying taxes is equally an important duty, ”he said.

Saying that he wanted to share something that had been doing his mind for a long time, Mr. Sethupathi said that people worked hard and paid their taxes. “But, if they get some benefits (in exchange for paying taxes), it will be welcomed,” he said.

Such benefits will help people who were good citizens in the past by paying previous taxes, when they fell in bad times and lost their income creation and financially suffering.

Accepting the actor’s demand in the Central Board of Direct Taxes, HBS Gill, Accepting Member (Tax Donor Services and Revenue), stated that such a demand was made by taxpayers worldwide.
