Actress and Amma chief Shweta Menon broke her silence in terms of obscenity, set for working hours for women artists

New Delhi: South actress Shweva Menon was selected as the first female president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in the recently held elections. Speaking in the South Conclave 2025 in India today, Shawetha spoke about hours for women actors in the film industry. He talked about creating a favorable work culture and environment for women.

Shwetha Menon shared her example and said, “I did four films while getting pregnant. I informed my directors that I was not comfortable with the morning shooting, and they understood.” Regarding being vocal and interacting, he said, “Most of the issues can be resolved through dialogue, but people often avoid it. Even when I was Amma’s first female vice president, I would urge women to share their problems, none of them will be.”

He remembered how he also decided to rethink his candidature as time was with a porn case filed against him. “More enemies, more I am excel. This case was shattered as a person. It was about films that came 12 years ago. The films mentioned, they gave me a state award.

What was the case of obscenity against Shweta Menon

Following the direction of a court, an FIR was filed against Menon by social worker Martin Meenachari, claiming that the clips from his films were used for popularity and benefit on social media and adult sites. A case was registered under the Immortal Traffic Prevention Act. According to the TOI report, Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against Menon under the Information Technology Act, 2000’s Immigrant Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 and Section 67 (A).

About Amma elections

Earlier, it was led by experienced actor Mohanlal, who resigned from the presidency in August 2024. Justice Hema Committee Report Allegations of sexual harassment against some offices beer, including Siddiqu and Babu Raj, were highlighted.
