New Delhi: After the tragic murder of a young female doctor in Bengal, actress Mallobika Banerjee has come forward to advocate for justice and women’s safety. Mallobika, who hails from Bengal herself, was seen actively participating in the protest against the heinous crime that took place at RG Kar Hospital last night, where the innocent doctor was raped and murdered.
Mlobika shared the photos on her social media with a very emotional message, in which the actress wrote, ‘Standing in silent solidarity for a voice that was silenced too soon. My heart aches for the innocent life lost and the unimaginable fear she suffered. As we march for justice, I can’t help but question, how many more lives will it take for our girls to feel safe in a world that is supposed to protect them? #JusticeForHer #SafetyForGirls’
The actress also expressed deep concern over the rising cases of violence against women, especially against women who leave their hometowns to fulfill their dreams. She said, ‘It is unsafe for every girl to dream something by daring to leave her state and settle somewhere else. It is appalling how a girl who herself aspired to serve others by becoming a doctor became a victim of such a heinous crime,’
‘Today we are celebrating our 78th Independence Day, we should celebrate it as a black day because we have seen so many crimes and murders in just one year. Every new day brings news of girls being killed or murdered. Are we safe even after so many years of independence?’ Mlobika further said.
Mlobika also urged people to take concrete action against such atrocities. ‘This is my small request to the people that now the time has come, I hope people rise above just saying ‘Om Shanti’ or ‘RIP’ on social media and stand up against all this. Only then will I feel that this is true freedom for all of us.’
