After Dhanush sues Nayanthara over 3-second clip controversy, the actress shares a cryptic post about “karma”


New Delhi:

Amidst her ongoing legal battle with actor Dhanush, Nayanthara posted a cryptic message about “Karma” getting its due. On Friday, the actress shared a thought-provoking note on her Instagram stories, which read, “Karma says!!! When you destroy someone’s life with lies, take it as a debt, it is charged with interest. Will come back to you with.”

The post comes soon after Dhanush filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara and her filmmaker husband, Vignesh Shivan over unauthorized use of clips from the film. Nanum Rowdy Paddy In his Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the FairytaleThe case was brought before the Madras High Court on 27 November, where Justice Abdul Quiddose directed Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan and others to explain the allegations leveled against them.

Additionally, Dhanush has issued a legal notice to the couple, warning of a possible lawsuit for the use of behind-the-scenes footage in the documentary. The notice also threatened to claim damages of Rs 10 crore if the clip is not removed.

In response, Nayanthara’s lawyer, Rahul Dhawan, said that the couple had not violated any copyright laws. He clarified that the footage used in the documentary came from the actor’s “personal library” and was not owned by Dhanush’s production company, Wunderbar Films Pvt. Ltd.

ICYDK: In her open letter, Nayanthara revealed that she and her team spent two years trying to get Dhanush’s permission to use the Naanum Rowdy Paddy footage in the documentary. When they could not obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC), they decided to use behind-the-scenes footage recorded on personal devices. He expressed his surprise at receiving a legal notice after the trailer’s release, accusing him of using a mere three-second clip without permission. Nayanthara wrote, “Your legal notice after the trailer release of the Netflix documentary is even more shocking. We were shocked to read the lines in which you questioned the use of some videos (just 3 seconds) which are stored in our personal devices. Were shot.” And that too BTS scenes which are already public on social media and claim loss of Rs 10 crores for just 3 seconds, this is the lowest for you and says a lot about your character Half was the person you portray in front of your innocent fans on stage at the audio launch, but clearly you don’t practice what you preach, at least not to me and my partner.”

Days after Nayanthara shared an open letter, Dhanush’s lawyer issued a statement asking him to remove the content within 24 hours. The statement from Dhanush’s legal representative read, “My client is the producer of the film and he knows where he has spent every single penny for the production of the film. Your client has said that my client has not made any contribution to any person. Has not been appointed to shoot from behind – The footage of the incident and the above statement are baseless. Your client has been given strong evidence of this.” The statement also mentioned that if the content is not removed within 24 hours, Dhanush will be forced to initiate legal proceedings, seeking damages of Rs 10 crore against both Nayanthara and Netflix India. Advise your client to remove the material infringing my client’s copyright on the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan by using it in my client’s documentary titled Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours, failing which my client will be subject to appropriate legal action. You will be forced to take action, including the following. Not limited to the demand for compensation of Rs. Rs 10 crore against your client and Netflix India.”
