
In a major boost for Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, ‘Chhawa’, the film has been declared tax-free in Indian states including Indian states capital Bhopal and Goa.
The film, which is discussing a lot for its entertaining story and the powerful performance of Vicky Kaushal is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. On 19 February, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced during a public meeting on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Taking his X handle, Mohan Yadav wrote, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, I announce the tax-free release of the Hindi film ‘Chhawa’ based on my son Sambhaji Maharaj.”

The Government of Goa has also announced that the state is ‘prickly’ tax-free. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the same through a post on his X handle. He tweeted, “Win Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj! It gives me pleasure that Chhatrapati announces that film “Chhava” based on the life and sacrifice of Sambhaji Maharaj, tax free in Goa. The film, which is the bravery of the courage, courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for the Dev, the country and religion played by Vicky Kaushal, is bringing the magnificent history on screen. Both states were announced with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Interestingly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed a growing call to provide a tax-free situation to ‘Chhawa’. He acknowledged the historical significance of the film and shared that he had received positive response from the public about the portrayal of the prestigious ruler. Fadnavis informed the media that Maharashtra had removed the entertainment tax in 2017 and said, “We would find out the best ways to promote this film and make it accessible to more and more people.”
After the announcement in Madhya Pradesh and Goa, many other states are expected to follow the suit and declare the film’s cultural significance and historical significance to be declared as “to be free”.
