The Nadathur Foundation is organizing the second edition of its concert series – Nada Sambhama. The main belief of the foundation is to promote and celebrate the rich tradition of Indian classical music. This version will include concerts from S. Subhashi and S. Sornlatha, which are popular as unknown sisters, followed by a vocal repetition by Sandeep Narayan.
Akaroi sisters, from a family of famous musicians, are celebrated in the world of Karnataka music. With the legacy of music excellence, both continue to thrill the audience with their music.
His father, trained by Swaminathan of Akkarai, an experienced violinist and founder of Swara Raga Sudha School of Music, the pair took music as children. Soon the sisters were in the headlines as Bal Kautuk, performing in places at national and international levels.
The sisters talk to us on a call from Chennai in front of their Bengaluru concert. It is difficult to distinguish between their voices because they fulfill each other’s sentences. Performance in Bengaluru is not new to sisters, but this is her first concert for the Nadathur Foundation. “Many young people are taking classical music. Voting in Bangalore is also good for a classical concert, ”says Sornelth.
Subhashti says that the concert will include various types of compositions, raga and musicians. “Since the concert is in Bengaluru, we will try to bring it into a composition of Purandaradasa and other Kannada musicians.”
Regarding knowing as Akkarai sisters, Sornelath says, he is in the name of his grandfather’s place. “When we became a musician, we brought it to the name of place as a prefix for our name.”

His father did not pamper him, Subhashi says, “As a teacher he was a task master and we could not imagine getting away from a practice session.” At that time, we realized that we have missed some things as children, but today we are grateful to them because we are today where we are due to their dedication and discipline in the music world today. ,
“At that age,” Vornalatha said, “We were not sure what we wanted to be. As we come from a family of musicians, we believed that it was our destiny to become a musician.”
Parents play a role in nurturing the value of traditions in their wards, Subhashi says. “They create a passion to learn art. However, this passion cannot be forced. ,
According to Vornalatha, violin for Indian classical music, the credit for adopting a Western equipment goes to Baluswamy Dixit. “He was the first to try classical music on violin in the early 19th century. The British surpassed many equipment. After introducing violin, it became so inherent in our concerts that Violin soon became an integral part of Indian classical music. ,
The sisters will also include Vaibhav Ramani (Violin), Vidwan Sai Giridhi (Mridam), Giridhi Uduupa (Ghatam).
