The scorching heat not only kills your enthusiasm but also saps your energy, so much so that staying motivated is the last thing on one’s mind. Not so for voice-over artiste/music composer Anita Rangaswamy, who gets a call from her home in South Bengaluru to talk about her latest music video, ‘Swalpa Swalpa’.
“Talking is my profession and specialty, and it brings me a living,” says the bubbly Anita, who needs no prompt while telling the story behind her work, songs and her releases.
She seems happy and cheerful and the word “beautiful” is added to almost every sentence she speaks. Anita has many achievements – lyricist, composer and voice over artist (mainly for FM radio commercials). She has been writing jingles for radio and other platforms for over 20 years and recently released an independent music video titled ‘Swalpa Swalpa’.
The song has been viewed more than 1.2 lakh times since it was uploaded on his YouTube channel last month. This is his third song after ‘A Tribute Song for Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar’ sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Kannada cinema playback singers and ‘Amma, An Ode to All Mothers’ featuring Kannada cinema actors and their mothers.
‘Swalpa Swalpa’ is special for Anita as she has launched her YouTube channel with this song. Anita has written the lyrics and also composed the music for ‘Swalpa Swalpa’. The song is produced by composer Hriday Goswami (known for mixing/mastering Raj Shetty) toby And Ondu Motteya Kathe).
The video is directed by Panidhar Revannoor, who is also a wildlife filmmaker and stars popular Kannada serial actor Abhinav Vishwanathan.Nannarasi Radhe And Tripura Sundari), and model and actor Harita Shah. It is sung by Rajat Hegde, who has worked in Kannada cinema and was one of the semi-finalists voice of india Under Armaan Malik’s team.
Anita, a student of English Literature, worked as a copywriter before getting into RJing. “’Swalpa Swalpa’ is a fresh and romantic song. Rajat deserves immense praise for doing justice to the song. I got a chance to write this on a beautiful day.
Anita says that the song got a good number of views not only for the music and visuals but also for the title. ,Swalpa Swalpa These are the first Kannada words that a non-Kannadiga adopts. If you ask someone who has recently moved to Bangalore whether they understand Kannada, the most common response is Swalpa Swalpa.,

Anita has written the lyrics Newton’s third lawA film by The Australia World Pictures and a Kannada film Tortoise Directed by Sooraj Shetty. Anita says that she also writes and composes songs. “It’s the way I feel most comfortable working, it’s my way of romancing with words.”
Anita is currently preparing to release ‘Swalpa Swalpa’ in Hindi, which will be released at the end of May. “We are not going to do literal translation but transcreation and creation. We look for words that sound good in Hindi without losing the essence of the original song.”
