Anurag Kashyap Brahmin apologizes amid displeasure over the comment, says: No action is worthy of your daughter

New Delhi: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has released an apology after a wave on his remarks related to the Brahmin community in the context of his upcoming film Phule. A complaint has been filed against the director in both Delhi and Mumbai for “derogatory” statements.

After Kashyap, the controversy intensified, “I will urinate on the Brahmins,” while defending the film from censorship related objections. The statement expressed displeasure, inspired Kashyap to release the apology late on Friday, expressed concern for the safety of his loved ones.

Kashyap said in his statement, “This is my apology-not for my post, but for the one line that is out of the context and hate has been triggered. Any action or speech is not worth receiving threats for rape and death for your daughter, family, friends and colleagues.”

He further pleaded with the trolls to leave his family out of controversies: “I misuse all of you. My family didn’t say anything. If you want forgiveness, it’s here. It’s here. It’s it to Brahmins, leave women.

The director shared a screenshot of an aggressive comment directed on him and defended his comment: “Brahmin Tumare Bap Han. As much as Tumari Aasse Sulgi, Uta Tuhari Sugagian.

In response, Kashyap wrote: “Everyone reads my answer. You are angry. The fire is already burnt. See reference before reacting. Cowards who hide behind the scriptures behind all their lives – nothing is meaningful, only to pull others down, for me, you will always be foolish.”

Legal complaints filed

Complaints against Kashyap were also filed at Tilak Marg Police Station in Delhi and with the Mumbai Police, accused of making derogatory remarks about the Brahmin community.

The dispute began when a part of the Brahmin community in Maharashtra objected to Phule’s release, a film that addresses caste and gender inequality. Kashyap also criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on 7 April for giving the film A ‘U’ certificate.

As Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule starring Pratik Gandhi and Patilkha, directed by Anant Mahadevan and respectively, Phule was initially prescribed to release on 11 April, but was postponed on 25 April.
