Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the screening of Vikrant Massey-starrer ‘The Sabarmati Report’ in Assam on Friday.
State cabinet ministers and BJP MLAs were also present at the screening of the film.
The film is based on the burning of S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on 27 February 2002.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the star cast of the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently attended the screening of the film at the 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) going on in Goa.
After watching the film on Thursday, Sawant sent his best wishes to Ekta R Kapoor and the entire team of ‘The Sabarmati Report’ through a phone call courtesy of producer Mahavir Jain.
Speaking to Ekta Kapoor yesterday, the CM said, “I really liked the film…it is very good. You have presented the film in a proper manner. Many congratulations.”
The Chief Minister of Goa further said that he is considering giving tax-free status to the film in the state.
“After watching this film, I am considering releasing it tax-free in Goa; we will implement this decision in a few days. Very few filmmakers focus on real facts and this film is based on a true incident. I congratulate the producer and the actors for their commendable work,” he told ANI.
The film also stars Raashi Khanna and Riddhi Dogra in lead roles.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan, Sabarmati Report is based on the real-life events surrounding the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra.
