The 52-year-old actor, who recently separated from Jennifer Lopez, spoke openly deadlineSaying, “I think it’s fair to say that talent has been taught that if you can’t really believe in the superficial definition of success when the gross is removed, the motivation becomes, okay. “Just take what you can, it’s a cash grab at this point.”

“We are all subject to this type of insecurity in this business,” he said. “Whether we are actors or directors or writers, the phone may stop ringing for us. It’s time to take the money. But what that does is it puts people at cross purposes.”

The Batman artist further added, “The people invested in the movie don’t exactly match up with the people who are doing it. And it’s not because they’re just trying to extract money, but because they’ve learned, okay, this is the only thing I can count on, this advance money. I don’t know when this will go away.”

Affleck fears he’s just ‘one wrong comment’ away from being…

Affleck expressed fear that “one wrong comment” could get him “canceled, or I’m one movie bomb away from never working again, and I’ve got a family and so on”, adding, “That’s it.” The only thing I can do is count on this advance of money. I don’t know when it will go away… and I have a family and all.”

Specifically, Affleck and his longtime friend Matt Damon are working to address such issues with their production company, Artists Equity. Their goal is to create a fair model in the industry, allowing artists to invest in projects and receive a share of the profits.

Affleck highlighted the current unfairness where A-list stars can still get massive salaries even if the film doesn’t perform well financially. Referring to his infamous 2003 film Gigli, he said, “I got a huge amount of cash for it. Well, looking back it doesn’t seem right because they (the studios) lost money… and then there’s the old story about the $10 million movie that made $200 million and nobody saw anything.”

Meanwhile, Lopez recently made a splash at the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked, showing that she’s back in the spotlight. Following their separation in August after two years of marriage, Lopez canceled her This Is Me… Live Tour, initially telling fans that she was “heartbroken and disappointed” by the decision.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, she reflected on her choice, saying, “I took the summer off to be at home with the kids, which is the best thing I’ve ever done.”
