Singer Beyonce reminded fans in the US to vote in the presidential election in a video in which she was wearing a Kamala Harris T-shirt.
Singer Beyonce doubled her support for Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Tuesday, the day of the US presidential election. Beyonce is wearing Kamala Harris’s T-shirt
In the video, Beyonce is seen getting off her private jet and heading to the studio for a photoshoot. In the shoot, she is seen wearing a brightly printed skirt and black T-shirt with Kamala Harris’s face on it. The video also includes some shots of a young Harris. Beyonce has shared the video on her Instagram without any caption. Fan pages later picked it up and re-shared it on various other social media platforms.
After Beyonce showed off the T-shirt, it started appearing on online marketplaces within hours. A limited edition print of the design is listed on various websites for $15.95 a piece.
Internet reacts
Fans of both Beyoncé and Kamala Harris welcomed the support. “Always on the right side of history,” one wrote on Twitter. Another said, “She knows who will be the next President of the United States.” Many took a dig at former US President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee and Harris’ main rival in the election. One tweet read, “Notice no one is wearing Trump’s ugly face on a t-shirt.”
However, Trump supporters did not welcome Beyoncé’s continued support of Harris. “Go home, Trump is winning here,” one wrote. Another expressed disappointment that Beyoncé voted for Harris.
Beyoncé supported Harris at a rally in her hometown of Houston last week. “I am not here as a celebrity, I am not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother,” Beyoncé said at the campaign rally.
“A mother who cares deeply about the world that my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our own bodies, a world where we are not divided,” she said Friday night in Houston. “
