Kolkata: Bharat Dev Verma, husband of actress Munmun Sen and father of Raima and Rhea Sen, died at his Kolkata residence on Tuesday.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to her X account to express her grief. She wrote, “Saddened by the demise of Bharat Dev Varma, husband of film star Munmun Sen and a great well-wisher of mine. He was indeed very sweet and affectionate to me, and I will always cherish his memories.” I truly considered him a part of my family, and his passing is a huge loss to me. After getting the news this morning, I went to his Ballygunge residence, where his daughters Rhea Moon Moon and Raima were present. My respect to the departed and condolences to the family.”

Mamata also visited his residence in Kolkata to express her condolences.
In a video shared on his official social media page, the TMC leader while addressing the media said that when the news broke, Munmun and Raima were in Delhi and were on their way back to Kolkata. Mamta also told that Bharat Dev Verma looks in good health.
“I spoke to Moonmoon. He had no idea. He was a very decent person. I have lost a well-wisher, a family member. I have lost someone close to me. The local councilor is here. Police were instructed Make a green corridor as soon as the moon comes. He was unwell, two nights ago, he had a party. In winter, stroke and heart attack happen in the morning.”
Rhea Sen was present at the residence, while Munmun Sen and Raima are expected to reach Kolkata soon. Munmun Sen married Bharat Dev Verma in 1976.
Bharat Dev Verma is survived by his wife and his two daughters, Raima and Riya Sen, both of whom have established themselves as actors.
