Mumbai: Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has been selected by the World Economic Forum to be part of its Young Global Leaders (YGL) Community: Class of 2024. Bhumi is currently in Geneva to join the world as a Young Global Leader.

The World Economic Forum recently released a list of nearly 90 changemakers under the age of 40 who are shaping the future and driving positive change through their work in the areas of public health, economic development, technology and sustainability.

In a statement, the World Economic Forum said the 2024 list is made up of a remarkable group of rising stars from politics, business, civil society, the arts and academia. Besides Bhumi, the list includes Nike Fashion CEO Advait Nair, Jubilant Group director Arjun Bharti, Vedanta Ltd non-executive director Priya Aggarwal Haber and Dexterity Global founder and CEO Sharad Vivek Sagar.

Bhumi said that I am proud to be a Young Global Leader from India at the World Economic Forum! It motivates me to dedicate every minute of my life for social welfare. This honor is even more special as it comes on the eve of my 10th year in cinema next year!

I am constantly inspired by interacting with change-makers from different parts of the world who are walking their talk to bring about change. As an actress and climate warrior, I want to work for functional change.

Bhumi added that my main focus is to work for regional sustainability and I want to organize as many people as possible to keep our planet healthy. I look forward to opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and make a meaningful impact on a global scale.

According to the World Economic Forum, for the past two decades the Young Global Leaders Platform has been at the forefront of building a unique community of leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing problems.
