Mumbai: Famous musician Rajesh Roshan was born on 24th May 1955 in Mumbai. Rajesh Roshan is celebrating his 69th birthday on May 24. Rajesh Roshan’s father Roshanlal Nagarath (Roshan) was a music director in Bollywood films and his mother Ira Roshan was a singer. Rajesh’s elder brother Rakesh Roshan is also a famous Bollywood director. Rajesh Roshan’s nephew and Rakesh Roshan’s son Hrithik Roshan is counted among the superstars of Bollywood. However, very few people know that Hrithik Roshan became a Bollywood superstar because of Rajesh Roshan.

Talking about the film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Rajesh Roshan had told in an interview that at that time Hrithik had to be introduced, so he tried his best. When everyone worked together, the picture turned out well. It is a joint effort, which will not be complete with just songs, there should be picturization as well. The hero-heroine should also be good with the songs.

It is all a joint effort. Yes, Asha Bhosle’s song- ‘Janeman Jaaneman…’ was added 10 weeks after the release of the picture. Its songs were making a lot of noise and the picture was also popular. There was scope for a song in the picture, then Veer said to make another song, then maybe the picture would go ahead. When the song ‘Jaaneman Jaaneman…’ was added, the picture remained a house full for five more weeks.

Rajesh further said that at that time both Rakesh and I started working for Hrithik afresh. I remember we let ourselves down a little bit. Loose means you say something and I say something. If someone else is sitting then he should also be told. We had a lot of flexibility. That is why the songs of this film are very good.

If we wanted, we could have taken songs by Udit Narayan or Kumar Sanu for the song ‘Kyun Chali Hai Pawan’, but we said take Lucky Ali for this. Let’s see what happens. Because at that time Lucky Ali did not sing songs in films. Let’s see what happens to the inventor of attitude creation. We did that in this one. Vijay Akela was also given an opportunity for the first time in this, who gave ‘Ek Pal Ka Jeena…’. Now who would believe this, because every director needs a great writer. As is usually the case, no one wants to break that barrier. But being flexible overall is a very important thing.
