As the time rolls, life moves forward. This unavoidable passing of Column Or the time is beautifully detected in the single ‘Aa Kalam’, which marks the beginning of Carnatic composer Sriranjini Kodampali as a composer.
The song is performed by Rafeeq Awamed and is sung by Sitara Krishnakumar and his daughter, Sawan Rithu.

“The track was designed to give an indifferent vibe through a simple system. Once the tune was ready, I sent it to the Rafiq Sir about the concept and gave us the best lines,” Sriranjini, an assistant professor of the music department at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, says.
She says, “My first choice for the Sitara song. Since the track starts with lines on childhood, there was no better option than his daughter.”
Sriranjini says that their friendship with the star goes back when he competed in the young festivals representing various schools and later colleges. “But during this so-called rivalry, we became friends and now our families are close to each other. I have not chosen him for the song because of his friendship. A versatile singer, he has put some beautiful amendments in this song.”

For Rachna, for him, Sriranjini admits that he never expected to become a musician. “I was never confident because I felt that I would make a raga-based song due to my background in Karnataka music. It was my husband, a music lover who encouraged me to try it after coming with a tune during our regular debate. Thus her name has been added to the small list of women musicians in the industry.
An veteran Karnataka composer, she is a grade artist with All India Radio, and is carrying forward the legacy of her grandfather Kodampal Gopala Pillai and her father Kodampal Pillai. He has played in Shaji Ann Karun Dawn And performed in many prestigious concerts across the country.
She has already recorded 10 songs in the voice of various singers in Malayalam and some other songs are in developing phase. He said, “The first singer I recorded was Sainora Philip. It is a fast number. I have tried my hand in other styles as well. I am not able to release any of them due to some unexpected circumstances,” she says, “She says,” My students were taken when she heard a part from Sayyanora’s song.
Abhijeet Damodaran has made a music arrangement of ‘Aa Kalam’, which has been produced by Ashik Baw.
The next release of Sriranjini will be a song by Bhadra Rajin. “I was not ready for this new role as a musician, but I am enjoying it,” she says. His music will soon be heard in some films.
