Trailer of actor Kartik Aryan’s much-awaited sports drama, Chandu Champion, Unveiled by the manufacturers today. Written and directed by Kabir Khan, the film is based on the life of former freestyle swimmer and India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar.
The trailer begins in an Indian Army hospital in Udhampur in 1967, when Murlikant Petkar (Karthik) wakes up from a two-year coma after being injured during the 1965 India-Pakistan War. Then we realized that Petkar had joined the Army to fulfill his dream of winning an Olympic medal in boxing for India, becoming a ‘champion’ and proving his bullies wrong. Petkar undergoes rigorous training and overcomes the odds to become India’s first Paralympic gold medalist.
“This is an incredible story of a man who faced one enemy after another with indomitable courage. His unwavering enthusiasm and never-say-die attitude created history,” read the trailer description. The real-life Murlikant Petkar won a gold medal at the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Scotland and a gold medal at the 1972 Paralympics in Germany.
Chandu Champion The music has been given by Pritam. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE) banner, the film is set to release in theaters on June 14.
