Mumbai: Director pair Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru have reacted to the sudden death of Shefali Jariwala, who shot for fame with the music video “Kanta Laga”, saying that this news has completely left them “heartbroken”.
Shefali died at the age of 42.
Speaking to ANI, Rao said, “We are completely broken. We came to know about it last night … it is almost like an incredible kind landscape.”
Sapru also shared how he discovered Sheffly, remembering a moment in advance when he and Radhika were driving on linking the road in Bandra.
“We started our journey together. Radhika and I were driving on linking the road in Bandra, and we were passing through a forest. We saw that this young girl saw her mother hugging her mother while crossing a scooter. As we were driving, Radhika thought she was very special.
“We always wanted someone who looked like a doll. We gave him a ride that day and asked him to come to our office for audition. When she came to office, she had no experience to act or do anything. Then we told her about the character that was in our mind. Radhika and I really fell in love with her.
Calling him unforgettable, Sapru said, “Woh Kehe Hen Na, who is the favorite Hot Han of God, Lord UNNA is in a hurry han. She was, she is, and she will always be a girl.”

Shefali became a nationwide sensation with the 2002 Remix Kanta Laga. The success of the video made her immediately recognizable and popular for her energetic performance. She later appeared in more remixes, including Kabi R Kabi Par.
According to reports, Chefly’s husband, Parag Tyagi reached Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital on Friday night, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Preliminary reports indicate that at the age of 42 she died of a cardiac arrest.
